About

This site was created in loving memory of Mac Tonnies, out of a desire to allow something beautiful to grow out of a tragedy.  The sudden and untimely loss of a dear and talented friend left many people reeling and heartbroken, but this site is a reminder of how all was not lost…

I don’t know if this was anyone else’s experience, but I met a lot of fantastic people after Mac’s passing through the sharing of online condolences, and although the pain has never lifted entirely, the burden was certainly shared and made bearable.  I was surprised at how many creative types were attracted to Mac.  I met amazing people who were interested in writing, design, poetry, painting, metalworking, illustration, performance, digital art, the list seems to go on forever.  I knew when I heard Mac’s book was coming out that I would probably be doodling and drawing along with it, and I came to wonder if these creative friends I had met would be doing the same….

Hence this site.  Basically a place for fan art, but, because of the nature of this event, also hopefully a place for sharing, remembering, and celebrating.  One friend has mentioned Mac’s joy for life as his enduring quality, and as I wholeheartedly agree I also want to, somehow, learn to be like that, too.  I think this blog is an effort towards that goal.

Doesn’t feel right writing much more about myself, because this blog isn’t about me, its about community.

You can email me at blazingbetta[at]gmail[dot]com if you would like to be in touch, and you can also follow the progress of this blog on Twitter (@macbots).

Thank you for your part in this effort, and much love to all….

I’m amazed and moved by the idea of this blog. One person’s ability to inspire that much love is remarkable. I got to it via Cath Duncan at http://www.rememberingforgood.com on Facebook – and I look forward to reading Mac’s work, which has been so lovingly preserved.

Blessings to all involved in this wonderful project,

    Casey
